ClipNotes Privacy Policy

1. What ClipNotes does

ClipNotes is a browser extension that helps users turn video transcript text into notes, summaries, analysis prompts, and user-controlled chat assistant workflows.

2. Data ClipNotes processes

The ClipNotes extension and license server may process information needed to provide licensing, checkout, activation, and support, including:

• License key.
• Browser device ID generated for license activation.
• Checkout email address.
• Stripe customer, checkout session, subscription, and license metadata.
• Extension version and activation timestamps used for license checks.

3. Transcript text privacy

Transcript text stays local in your browser unless you choose to copy it or send it to a supported chat assistant. ClipNotes does not collect, store, or sell transcript text on its license server.

4. License activation

When you activate or check a license, ClipNotes sends the license key and browser device ID to the ClipNotes license server. This is used to confirm that the license is active and to manage device limits.

5. Payments through Stripe

Payments are processed through Stripe. ClipNotes may receive and store payment-related metadata such as checkout email, Stripe customer ID, checkout session ID, subscription ID, plan, and license status. ClipNotes does not store card numbers.

6. Data sharing

ClipNotes shares payment information with Stripe for checkout and payment processing. ClipNotes does not sell personal information. Transcript text is not shared by ClipNotes unless you choose to copy it or send it to a supported chat assistant.

7. Data retention

ClipNotes keeps license and payment metadata as long as needed to provide access, prevent abuse, maintain records, handle support, and comply with legal obligations. License activation records may be retained while a license is active or while needed for support and operational records.
